On the evening of March 26, the Longgao "Dragon and Phoenix" debate competition came to a successful conclusion. The debate took "Does memory define a person more than the present?" as the topic. The two sides had a fierce confrontation around this philosophical topic, and the whole school was present to watch the contest.

The main team of this competition is made up of students from class 2302, respectively, Huang Yiwei, Zhou Linlai, Deng Siyu, and Tan Yiru. The opposition team is made up of students from class 2301, respectively, Huang Tianyu, Li Chunyang, Gong Yuken, and Xu Zixiang.

Starting from personal growth experience, the pro side points out that memories are the precipitation of past life, which includes success and failure, laughter and tears, and is a key factor in shaping personality and values. Those past choices and experiences continue to influence current decisions and actions, becoming the core elements that define a person. They cite psychological research highlighting the profound influence of childhood experiences on personality formation to demonstrate the importance of recall in the definition of the individual.

The counter-argument is that the present moment is what defines a person. They point out that current actions and choices are the most direct reflection of a person's true state and values. In the rapidly changing modern society, people constantly adjust themselves to adapt to the environment, and the current performance is the most real and representative. They point to people in hot social events as examples to show that people are often judged based on their current behavior.

In the free debate session, the debaters on both sides were quick in thinking, you came back and forth, and the atmosphere was tense and warm. The positive side emphasizes the continuity and accumulation of memories, which is the thread running through life. The opposite side highlights the immediacy and decisiveness of the moment, saying that only the action of the moment can truly show the ability and responsibility of the individual. Both sides cited classics and quotations, skillfully used logical reasoning and examples, and won bursts of applause from the scene.
